The Effective Management of Anaesthetic Crises (EMAC) course is the only course that is overseen by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
EMAC is designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills in handling anaesthetic emergencies and focuses on effective teamwork and communication during anaesthetic crises.
The EMAC course is a mixture of scenario-based simulations, skill stations, group activities and problem-based learning discussions. The course spans two and a half days, divided into five modules that comprehensively cover critical topics:
- Human Factors
- Airway Management
- Cardiovascular Emergencies
- Anaesthetic Emergencies
- Trauma Management
